2014: Closing the Book on a Year Full of New

We’re proud to say that 2014 was a year of growth at SKM Group, both literally and figuratively.

1. New Local Clients
Local businesses Northtown Automotive Group, Caplugs, NOCO Energy Corp and Louie’s Texas Red Hots joined our list of clients from across the country. Our new friends gave us a chance to expand our horizons and draw on expertise to create fun, informative and engaging ads. We also got to meet Buffalo Bills star rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins, which was pretty cool.

2. New People
With new clients and the workload that comes with a full inbox, SKM Group added plenty of talent this past year. We hired new employees for almost every department. We are also growing our extended family. SKMers gave birth to 6 healthy and beautiful babies in 2014, with (at least) one more baby on the way in 2015. We’re having the water checked.

3. New Hardware
While we work hard to produce results for our clients, it never hurts to receive recognition from industry professionals and peers. Once again, at the Advertising Club of Buffalo’s annual award show, The Addys, SKM Group hauled in a fair share of accolades in 2014. Our team scored three Addy’s for our TOPS Homegrown and SunTrust Premier campaigns.

4. New Impact in the Mail
Our creative team came up with a cool new concept for a Consumers Energy direct mail campaign — Pop-up mailers. The attention-grabbing piece mimics a pop-up book and effectively extols the company’s energy-saving incentive program. We also created a direct mail campaign to raise awareness about SunTrust Private Wealth. We sent three postcards with intriguing questions as a teaser to the informational mailer. The mailer was very high-end using metallic inks, special die cuts and a new type of paper. Because SunTrust wanted to make a higher impact with a segment of recipients, the brochure was delivered via FedEx with a personally signed letter.

5. New Direction
Identifix wanted to send a message to auto repair shop owners about their service, so they relied on their clients to tell the tale. The SKM team got together with Identifix to create and produce unscripted video testimonials that combined the authenticity of customer experience with the knowledge of professionals in the field. The results were compelling and effective.
